Our Philosophy

At Miro House Kindergarten, Children are considered taonga. Childhood and what rightly belongs to childhood is nurtured and protected

We provide an environment that is unhurried, allowing children to develop in time and over time.

Children experience an environment that facilitates a sense of wonder, goodness, beauty and truth.

Whānau are valuable members of our community.  A sense of belonging is fostered for our whole community.

Children’s learning and development is supported:

  • through a natural and thoughtfully considered environment that supports and nourishes the child’s physical body, their senses, their holistic well-being

  • self-directed play and natural, open-ended play materials

  • strong and consistent rhythms

  • through adults knowledge and understanding of how children learn

  • through imitation and adults being worthy of imitation

  • festivals and events that celebrate our community

  • warm and supportive relationships with and between adults
